Md Masuduzzaman Rajib: During the anti-drug operation of Zorarganj Thana Police in Mirsarai Circle, Chittagong district, a team of Zorarganj Thana Police recovered 30 bottles of Indian liquor hidden in sacks of Pumelo fruit from a locked room of the one-storey building of the house of the late freedom fighter Mostafizur Rahman Sohel of the house of the late Khurshid Alam Miyaji in the Gach Market area of ​​Bariyarhat Municipality.

According to police sources, a total of 30 bottles of liquor (12 bottles of Officer Choic Blue 750 ml, 8 bottles of Mc Dowells 750ml, 10 bottles of Signature 750ml) were recovered on Saturday afternoon based on a secret information. In this incident, the Zorarganj Police sent a press release to the media on Saturday evening regarding the filing of a regular drug case with the Zorarganj Police Station as unidentified accused, including two absconding persons named Mostafizur Rahman Sohel (43) and Nur Alam Masud Q. Kala Masud (30). In this regard, it is learned from confidential sources that Giasuddin, an active member of the border smuggling gang of Bhabani Gheramara village in the border area of ​​​​Korerhat Union, and his three associates left bottles of Indian liquor hidden in a sack of jujube in a CNG-powered auto-rickshaw on Saturday afternoon and left them at Sohel's residence in Gach Market of Bariyarhat Municipality. Some time after the smugglers left, a team of Zorarganj Police Station took the key to the locked residence and recovered 30 bottles of liquor. When Giasuddin's Robi number was called to confirm the truth of the matter, the connection was not available due to network problems. According to eyewitnesses, four people in a CNG-powered auto-rickshaw entered the house with sacks of jambura asking where the son-in-law was; after a while, they left again in the auto-rickshaw. Some time after leaving, a police team entered the house and started threatening the women of the house by asking where the cartons were kept. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Zorarganj Police Station Mohammad Abdul Halim told this correspondant of  'Dainik Amadar Bangla' that 30 bottles of liquor were recovered from Sohel's house in Bariyarhat Gacha Market based on a secret information; the accused are absconding. Investigations are underway to find out who else is involved in smuggling illegal Indian liquor.
